Inc. Magazine Features Steinway Star
WHEN EDITORS AT INC magazine, a leading publication for small business managers, decided to devote its June issue to the art and importance of salesmanship, they tapped Steinway salesperson Erica Feidner for the cover.
A former Miss Vermont and an accomplished pianist, Feidner consistently sells over $3 million a year from the Steinway & Sons store in New York City – while insisting she isn’t in sales. The key to her success? While every piano salesperson likes to consider themselves and “expert,” Fiedner is the real thing, with a uncanny knack for matching people and pianos.
The cover story in Inc. isn’t Fiedner’s first media exposure. In 2001 a lengthy feature in the New Yorker traced her Bohemian upbringing in a house full of pianos, her stint as Miss Vermont in 1985, and her painful fallout with her father. These days, in addition to working at Steinway Hall, she is working on a patented method to teach people to read music.
